'Singing On The Edge' is a one-hour documentary about the very different lives and careers of two remarkable women singers in Mongolia today. One was raised in the countryside but has moved to the city to pursue a glittering international career as a traditional folk singer, while the other is a western-style pop diva, who nevertheless retains ties to her family's semi-nomadic way of life. As we follow these two women in the events of their public and private lives we gain an understanding of the way in which the recent sudden exposure to global capitalism has convulsed Mongolia's formerly isolated way of life.
